These resources will help you prepare for the VCC NG Accuplacer and the VCC HCA (Health Care Assistant) NG Accuplacer:

  • Writing sample questions for Health Care Assistant applicants only

Save time on assessment day! 

When you start your English assessment, you will be asked to read the Accuplacer Student Privacy Policy. This is a long policy, and it will take time to read. Read the policy now and save time on assessment day. You should know that:

  • your personal information will be collected by Accuplacer and stored in the United States 
  • your personal information will be kept confidential and secure
  • if you do not agree with the privacy policy, you will not be able to write the assessment
  • you can speak with an Academic Advisor about alternate options

Note:  You will need basic computer skills to take this assessment.  Also, if you think you are at a Beginners level of English, please do not take this assessment.  Make an appointment with a VCC Academic Advisor for other options.

To take the VCC EAL (ESL) Speaking assessment, you need to know:

  • Your speaking assessment will be conducted in person with a faculty assessor.
  • You will be given a topic to talk about. 
  • The assessment will measure your vocabulary, grammar, fluency, comprehension and pronunciation.
