Important Update Regarding ILAC

ILAC has ceased operations effective immediately. Students with conditional admission through the ILAC Pathway should review the FAQ below for important information regarding their admission, available options, and next steps.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. I have been conditionally admitted through ILAC’s pathway to VCC. Is my admission still valid?

Yes. Your conditional admission to VCC is still valid.

2. I was currently studying in the ILAC Pathway program, or I was planning to start soon. What are my options now?

Since ILAC has ceased operations, students can no longer begin or continue studies through the ILAC Pathway program.

Students who still need to meet their English language condition may:

• Study at ILSC, VCC's current pathway language school partner, and complete its pathway program.
• Submit results from an English proficiency test such as Duolingo English Test, IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or another accepted assessment.
• Pursue studies at another English language school. Students attending English language schools other than ILSC will still be required to meet VCC's English language requirements through an accepted English proficiency test by the deadlines indicated in the Conditional Letter of Acceptance.

3. Can I transfer my existing registration from ILAC to ILSC?

Students who were currently studying and/or already registered to study through the ILAC Pathway (prior to the closure) may wish to consider ILSC, VCC's current pathway language school partner. Students interested in exploring placement options with ILSC may contact student@languagescanada.ca and indicate their interest in studying at ILSC's physical or online schools.

4. Will VCC accept another pathway school instead?

ILSC is currently VCC's only pathway language school partner. Students who complete the ILSC pathway may use it to satisfy VCC's English language requirements, subject to VCC's admission requirements in effect at the time of assessment.

Students studying at other English language schools may continue their studies; however, they will be required to submit results from an accepted English proficiency test to satisfy the English admission requirements for their programs.

5. Can VCC help me obtain a refund from ILAC?

No. Any questions regarding refunds, prepaid tuition, or claims related to ILAC must be directed through the bankruptcy process being administered by the appointed trustee. VCC is not involved in ILAC's financial operations and cannot process refunds on ILAC's behalf.

6. I have completed my studies at ILAC before its closure. Will you accept my pathway certificate and transcripts?

Yes. Students who successfully completed an approved ILAC Pathway program before ILAC ceased operations will continue to have their credentials assessed according to VCC's existing admissions requirements. Please be reminded that the pathway certificates are valid for 2 years.

7. I need more time to meet the conditions on my Conditional Letter of Acceptance. What should I do?

If you require additional time to meet your admission conditions, please email ieadmissions@vcc.ca to discuss your situation and explore available options. Requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

8. Can I withdraw my VCC studies because ILAC’s closure has affected my study plans?

Students who choose to withdraw from VCC because their study plans have changed due to ILAC's closure should be aware that withdrawal does not automatically qualify them for a full refund.

If ILAC's closure has significantly affected your ability to proceed with your studies at VCC, you may submit a withdrawal request along with a written appeal for a refund review. Each request will be assessed on a case-by-case basis in accordance with VCC policies and the specific circumstances of the student.

While a full refund cannot be guaranteed, VCC recognizes the exceptional nature of this situation and will carefully consider requests from students whose study plans have been substantially impacted by ILAC's closure.

9: I was conditionally admitted to VCC through the ILAC Pathway. How will this closure affect my study permit and immigration status?

As every student’s case may be different, please book an immigration advising session with one of VCC’s International Student Immigration Advisors to discuss your situation and receive guidance.

VCC Programs Accepting Pathway Completion from ILAC and ILACIC

Although ILAC and ILACIC have ceased operations, VCC may continue to accept ILAC or ILACIC pathway certificates for students applying to the following programs. Pathway certificates are valid for 2 years.
