Application Documents

Documents required for applications vary by program. Check individual programs for specific admissions requirements. Application documents may include:

  • Official high school or post-secondary graduation certificate
  • Official transcripts
  • Proof of English, such as IELTS Academic or TOEFL iBT scores (if applicable)
  • Other documents for program-specific requirements

Official Documents

All academic credentials, transcripts and test scores submitted to the college must be official.

Scanned and photocopied documents are only accepted for initial evaluation purposes. Students must bring all original hard copy educational documents used for admission with them to Canada. VCC reserves the right to request students' educational documents at any time for review.

Official and original documents may include transcripts, graduation certificates or diplomas, and other educational documents submitted during the application process.

Certified Translations

If transcripts are written in a language other than English, an official copy of an authorized English translation must be submitted in addition to the original transcript. Translations must be literal, complete versions of original records, and the documents must be translated by a recognized translation service such as MOSAIC (Multilingual Orientation Service Association for Immigrant Communities). Further information about certified translations can be accessed through the Society of Translators and Interpreters of British Columbia

Ownership of Application Documents

Documents submitted in support of an application for admission or transfer credit become the property of the College. Replaceable documents (eg. US/Canadian transcripts) will not be returned. Irreplaceable documents will be returned directly to the student after the admission evaluation is complete. For applicants who do not attend VCC, documents will be kept on file for one year only. For those who attend VCC, admission documents may be destroyed ten years after a student's last registration. VCC does not provide photocopies for students or return scanned copies of documents submitted in support of an application for admission or transfer credit.
