VCC Facilities Management is committed to posting paper notices in spaces that will be used and/or closed for filming as far in advance as possible, usually 3-5 business days. (Broadway students: watch for posters by the elevator banks in Building B). Filming notices will also generally be shared on the college’s official Twitter feed.

Operating a public college today and keeping tuition fees affordable requires more external funding than ever before. VCC’s unique variety of campus spaces are a major draw to Vancouver’s film and television industry, and the college is paid generously for their use.

Film production crews demand clean and well-equipped spaces. Quite often, film companies will sponsor refinishing of floors or walls, pressure washing, window cleaning, and other maintenance and/or upgrades free of charge to the college.

To prioritize the VCC community, VCC Facilities Management typically reserves approximately 200 Broadway campus parking spaces for students and employees. Based on parking usage statistics, this should accommodate the majority of student and employee vehicles.

If film crew members are working near you, please make them feel welcomed while giving them space to do their work. Keep quiet, be prepared to stop and wait to cross an active set, and watch for cables and other equipment that may pose tripping hazards.

Occasionally, filming activity will occur in open spaces commonly used for studying. In these cases, notices will be posted with information on alternative study spaces, including libraries, learning centres, cafeterias, and more.
