Deaf and Hard of Hearing - Job Readiness

The focus of Job Readiness Training is on helping deaf and hard of hearing participants explore a number of types of jobs, make career choices, plan their education and training, find employment and develop skills that will help them keep jobs. The program will use an integrated approach to learning, building academic and computer skills while developing personal management and work related skills.

Program Description

This is a full-time program with class hours Monday to Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Students work both individually and in groups. There are written and/or verbal assignments with each course. Courses are presented through lecture, small group discussion, assigned readings and projects, and self-study.

Admission Requirements

General

VCC welcomes applications from Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.

Exceptions
Convention refugees as designated by the federal government;

Foreign live-in caregivers;

Individuals with work permits valid for at least one year, covering the duration of studies; or those with Approval in Principle letters from Citizenship and Immigration Canada;

Legal dependents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents (certain conditions apply);

Diplomats and their direct dependents;

International exchange students.

VCC will require proof of citizenship, residency, diplomatic or refugee status. Please see VCC's policy relating to admission for non-citizens and non-residents for more information.
