Materials of Music I (MUSC 1103)

This course covers an examination of the basics of tonal music. Topics include the study of the overtone series, intervals, scales, modes, jazz chord symbols, figured bass, two-part modal counterpoint, Roman numeral analysis, non-harmonic tones, phrase structure, diatonic triads, and voice leading.
