Department Head - School of Instructor Education

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department Head will be responsible for the planning, coordination, supervision and direction of the curriculum and instruction within the Centre for Instructional Development Department's activities related to:
- Instructional Design, including curriculum inventory, research and development; instructional setting; Computer Assisted and Computer Managed Education (CAE and CME); needs assessment; course evaluation techniques; and student assessment techniques and instruments.
- Management of the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program Contract, including budget preparation, monitoring, and reporting; hiring and training of course-specific instructors; conducting of off-site courses.
The Department Head is also responsible for the supervision of the Department capital budget, operating budget and class schedule.
Appointment shall be a 3-year cycle, with the first year being probationary. Upon successful completion of the probationary year and on the recommendation of the Vice-President of Education or delegate, the appointee would be confirmed for an additional two-year period.
Commencement Date: October 1, 2010 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Department Head, Library Public Services, the Public Services Librarian is responsible for information literacy instruction, departmental liaison, collection development, and the provision of excellent reference service which includes the effective use of print and electronic information resources. The Librarian is also responsible for the provision of virtual reference service to users from BC colleges and universities.

The incumbent is responsible to the Registrar and Director of Enrolment Services for leading the Program Advising Department in supporting the college's student recruitment and enrolment services' goals through effective strategies, best practices and prospect engagement.
_________________________________________________ A Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a discipline related to social services, plus 4 years experience in a post secondary advising environment with supervisory training and experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Thorough knowledge of the advising process in a post secondary setting is critical. Considerable knowledge of the College's organization, educational offerings and program content, eligibility requirements, waitlist, etc. as applicable to student admissions, and knowledge of the various types of sponsorships and financial assistance available to students. An understanding of foreign credentials and their evaluation in relation to Canadian equivalencies is also needed. Sound experience with Microsoft Word and experience with Banner is required.
