College Information
Bike-friendly
With two campuses around Metro Vancouver, VCC is easily accessible for thousands of students across the Lower Mainland.
Our Broadway campus is just one street over from 10th Avenue, a bikeway designated by the City of Vancouver. And our Downtown campus is adjacent to numerous separated bike lanes and pathways.
For more information on bike routes, please see the City of Vancouver’s cycling map.
If you want to bike to campus without riding the whole way, here is how to bring your bike on transit.
Locking up your bike
There are a few options to keep your bike securely locked while on campus. Remember to bring your own sturdy lock.
There are bike racks near the main entrances at both campuses.
For secure bike storage at either campus, download the app RBH Mobile BT available at the App Store and Google Play. Then contact VCC’s Coordinator of Safety and Security at secure@vcc.ca and provide the following information: name, student number, program name, program end date and the 10-digit code generated by the app.
Staff ID cards automatically have access to the staff bike rooms.
Bikeep is a smart bike parking station and is available in the downtown secure bike storage area. It can be used to lock your bike and has ebike charging capability. You can download the app and watch a demo of how to use Bikeep.
The downtown secure bike storage area also has air and a bike repair station.
Showers, lockers and changerooms
The Downtown campus has washrooms with showers and lockers: men’s room 152, women’s room 150E. There is also a universal gender-neutral shower and washroom in room 150B.
The Broadway campus has washrooms with showers and lockers. From the bike cage, walk toward the elevators on the west side of the courtyard and take the elevator to the basement (the Automotive Department floor). When you exit, go straight down the corridor on the right until you reach the hall on the left. Turn left. The two gender-neutral, single-occupancy showers are the first two doors on the right, in rooms B030 and B031. On the left side of the hall are the male and female shower rooms, each with private shower stalls, day lockers, and hair dryers, located in rooms B012 and B016.
Bike share
Vancouver’s public bike share program is Mobi. Mobi bike stations are within one block of both campuses. It is super easy to use - just sign up on the app available on the App Store and Google Play.
Bike education
Want to learn more about how to safely bike in the city? HUB Cycling is a charitable non-profit organization that provides cycling information for all ages. Much of what they offer is free! Check out their education page.
Go by Bike Weeks
VCC encourages staff and students to participate in Metro Vancouver’s Go by Bike Weeks. The College sponsors contests, provides stations to serve fruit, coffee and granola bars, and hosts raffles for anyone who is substituting four wheels for two for their commute to work or school.
