English language requirements

Dental Reception Coordinator

Students who are applying to VCC's Dental Reception Coordinator program must meet specific English language requirements. 

Please choose the option below that applies to you.

Students who have completed three years* of full-time, face-to-face secondary or post-secondary education in an English-speaking country where English is the primary language of instruction may meet VCC's English 12 'C' and English Language Proficiency requirements by completing one of the following options:

* English as a Second Language (ESL) courses are not considered in the three-year calculation

Completion of 3 credits of undergraduate English at a recognized post-secondary institution where English is the primary language of instruction.

Students who have not completed three years of full-time, face-to-face secondary or post-secondary education in an English-speaking country where English is the primary language of instruction may meet VCC’s English 12 'C' and English Language Proficiency requirements by completing one of the following options:

 

Option 1: Three credits of undergraduate English

Students may meet VCC's English 12 'C' and English Language Proficiency by completing three credits of undergraduate English with a minimum grade of 55 per cent.

Credits must be completed at a recognized post-secondary institution where English is the primary language of instruction.

 

Option 2: Academic English 12 and assessment test

Students may meet VCC's English 12 'C' and English Language Proficiency requirements by completing Academic English 12 or equivalent (with a minimum grade of 60 per cent)  AND one of the following assessments:

Scores are valid for 1 year.

Listening: 25/30
Speaking: 27/30
Reading: 50/70
Essay: 16/20

 

 

Option 3: ESL Pathways 8

Students may meet VCC's English 12 'C' and English Language Proficiency requirements by completing the following ESL Pathways modules:

AND

Reading and Writing 8 (ELSK 0820)

Satisfied

 

 

Option 4: VCC English Language Assessment

Students may meet VCC's English 12 'C' and English Language Proficiency requirements by completing VCC's English Language Assessment (ELA) with the following results:

Visit the VCC Assessment Centre to book an appointment.

 

 

Proof of credentials

All applicants using external credentials (e.g. degrees, credits, or test scores) to meet VCC's English language requirements must provide proof upon application.
