Designing Infographics with Google Tools (CMPT 1531)

Infographics are a powerful tool to communicate meaning in today’s digital content ecosystem where increased smartphone usage is leading to audiences consuming information more quickly. In this environment, text alone is no longer as effective and it is increasingly necessary to capture the viewer’s attention with visual content to deliver meaning. Infographics are the perfect tool to do this as they are visually appealing, interactive, and easily understandable. They are the “hook” that makes viewers stop, take notice, and invites them to engage more substantively with information. Students will learn design principles for effective communication through infographics and will utilize datasets for designing charts through Google Drive.
