The purpose of this course is to introduce the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to the competency of taking and transcribing verbal and telephone orders. Please note that is helpful for students to have completed a pharmacology course within the last five years or be giving medications. As each facility will have its own policy and procedures regarding the specifics of transcribing orders, only the general principles will be discussed in this course.
This course is designed with a series of activities which will assist you in learning the theory and skills necessary to gain an understanding of the concepts associated with taking verbal or telephone orders.
Proof of current BC LPN or RN license is required to register.
Registration is on-going for this course. Students may register at any time, and have three months to complete the course.
