Work at VCC
Willan Choir is a mixed voice choir of approximately 60-70 members. Since 1975, this spirited supportive community of singers has come together every week to work on principles of voice production, choral singing techniques and team work, largely through classical choral repertoire. Members range in age from young adults to seniors, with varying degrees of choral experience and musical literacy. No audition or previous experience is required. Emphasis is on the enjoyment of fine music-making.
The choir performs at least two concerts a year in late Fall and early Spring, often in venues such as Christ Church Cathedral, West Point Grey United Church, West Vancouver United Church and the Bell Centre. The Willan Choir is frequently joined by the VCC Concert Choir and Madrigal Singers, as well as by soloists from the classical voice program. Every 2 years, Willan Choir joins forces with VCC’s orchestra in residence - West Coast Symphony Orchestra - to present a major choral and orchestral work.
