About this Event

Fashion Futures is an online professional development workshop for fashion and textile teachers hosted by VCC Fashion coordinator, Sarah Murray. Using the B.C. grade 12 curriculum as inspiration, the session speaks to future career options, social and cultural influences on clothing, forecasting practices, and ethical and environmental considerations in the fashion industry.

On Friday, Feb. 12, from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., participants will share challenges and excitement for the future, and consider various elements of the fashion industry ultimately creating a plausible scenario of the future so they can empower their students through the curriculum they teach.

In addition, a panel of guests will speak about their perspectives on the future of fashion in light of the pandemic and climate change.

Course learning outcomes include:

• Relate to other’s experiences

• Investigate social and environmental influences on the future of fashion

• Hypothesize potential futures for the fashion industry

• Create a presentation
