Downtown Campus access changes during FIFA World Cup

To support safety and campus operations during FIFA World Cup 2026 matches at BC Place Stadium, VCC will implement temporary access changes at the Downtown campus on match days between June 13 and July 7.

On match days, Downtown campus access will be limited. VCC identification will be required outside scheduled food service windows, and public access will be available only during posted food service hours.

FIFA World Cup Match Days

BC Place Stadium will host matches on the following dates. Local road closures will begin approximately six hours prior to matches, while the stadium will be open three hours before and after each match.

Saturday, June 13 – 9 p.m.

Thursday, June 18 – 3 p.m.

Sunday, June 21 – 6 p.m.

Wednesday, June 24 – 12 p.m.

Friday, June 26 – 8 p.m.

Thursday, July 2 – 8 p.m.

Tuesday, July 7 - 1 p.m.

These are the dates when the Downtown Campus will implement changes to access. Additional security staff will be on-site throughout the day to manage access and provide support.

Food service windows and public access

During food service windows, both the Pender and Dunsmuir entrances will open to the public. Signage will direct restrict visitors to food service areas of campus only, and select washrooms will be available.

Monday–Thursday (For match days on June 18, June 24, July 2, July 7)

7:50 a.m. Open to the public (Sieffert bakeshop & cafeteria access only)
10 a.m. Closed to the public (exit only)
10:50 a.m. Open to the public for lunch service (Sieffert, JJ’s, The Bistro, & Cafeteria access only)
1p.m. Closed to the public (exit only)
5:50–9:30 p.m. Security guard posted at Pender Street entrance to support Chef’s Table guests (Dunsmuir entrance will be closed at this time)

Friday (For match day on June 26)

7:50 a.m. Open to the public (Sieffert & Cafeteria access only)
10 a.m. Closed to the public (exit only)
10:50 a.m. Open to the public for lunch service (Sieffert, JJ’s, The Bistro & Cafeteria access only)
1 p.m. Closed to the public (exit only)

 

Salon & Spa

The VCC Salon & Spa will be closed on match days, and open regular hours on non-match days.

Getting to campus on match days

Increased traffic, road closures and higher transit demand are expected in the downtown area during FIFA World Cup matches.

  • Pacific Boulevard will be closed from May 23 to July 19 between the Cambie St. Bridge off‑ramp and Carrall St.
  • Additional road closures will be in place near BC Place on match days
  • Walking routes will remain open, with detours where required

Allow extra travel time and consider transit, walking or cycling. TransLink will increase service during this period.
