Statement on passing of VCC student

 

Dear VCC community,  

It’s with great sadness that we share news of the passing away of one of our students following an incident at Wreck Beach last Thursday, April 17.  

On behalf of Vancouver Community College, we offer our deepest condolences to the student’s family, loved ones, friends, peers, and instructors here at VCC and abroad.  

This is an immense tragedy for the VCC community. We encourage employees and students to check in with each other and access supports that are available to you:  

• VCC student counselling and support services  
• Employee and Family Assistance Program (myVCC login required)   

At this time, VCC will not be revealing the identity of the student out of respect for the privacy of the student and their family and friends.
