Congratulations to the five VCC students who claimed medal finishes at the 37th annual Skills Canada National Competition held at the Enercare Centre in Toronto on May 28 and 29, 2026.

We’re incredibly proud of all the students who represented VCC and Team BC. Participating at this level is a remarkable achievement with months of hard work, patience, and perseverance to master complex techniques and perform under pressure against some of the country's top apprentices.

“Our students demonstrated exceptional professionalism, skill, and sportsmanship throughout the competition,” says Kimberly Tada, VCC Baking instructor. “I couldn’t be prouder of their achievements."

Gold-winning medallist Totie Li of the baking category (post-secondary) is incredibly grateful for the mentorship and guidance she has received throughout this journey.

“The Skills competitions were truly an amazing experience and I have learned so much from everyone. Thank you so much for the support!”

While no VCC competitors advance to World Skills this year, competing at the national level is a significant feat in and of itself. VCC celebrates the dedication, resilience, and excellence each student demonstrated throughout the process and is a testament to the calibre of skilled training they receive here.

Congratulations once again to all competitors who participated at all levels of the competitions, and thank you for inspiring the next generation of skilled professionals.
