VCC named top B.C. employer once again
Vancouver Community College (VCC) has been recognized as one of BC's Top Employers for a third consecutive year. The organizers of the 18th annual competition announced the list on Tuesday, Feb. 14, which includes employers BC Hydro, Vancouver Coastal Health, and Telus Communications.
BC's Top Employers is a special designation that recognizes companies and organizations in the province that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work.
Competitors are compared to other organizations in their fields to determine which offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs. The annual competition is open to any employer with its head office in B.C. This is the third time VCC has entered.
“VCC can only deliver the highest quality experience for learners and colleagues when there is a dedication to excellence and a commitment to service," remarks Ajay Patel, President & CEO. "Our ability to work together and support one another allows us to weather challenges while staying future-focused. This hard work has not gone unnoticed by the broader community, and I am so proud that VCC has once again been recognized as BC’s Top Employers.”
Adds Kate Dickerson, VP People Services, “VCC is a community in the truest sense of the word. And that community is built on the shoulders of the incredible team of employees who are all committed to the same purpose – ensuring VCC’s students reach their educational goals. I could not be prouder of the team for receiving the BC Top Employers award yet again.”
The winners are chosen based on multiple criteria, including compensation and benefits, the work and social atmosphere, the quality of the physical workplace, training and upward mobility and community involvement — all of which were pushed forward by a healthy level of competition between public- and private-sector employers.
