VCC sends 10 to Skills Nationals 2026 in Toronto

Vancouver Community College (VCC) is thrilled to announce that 25 students earned medal finishes at the 32nd annual Skills Canada BC provincial competition at the Abbotsford Tradex centre on Wednesday, April 15. Well done to the VCC autobody repair (secondary) category on sweeping the podium.

The 10 gold medallists from various disciplines will be heading to Toronto to compete at the national level on May 28 and 29. We’re extremely proud of the 41 VCC students who put themselves forward to perform under pressure at the provincial level.

“I was always interested in competing in Skills,” says Totie Li, post-secondary Baking gold medallist. “I’ve learned that no matter how much you prepare, you will have to adapt to circumstances. But in anything I do, I make sure to be proud of the products I make and infuse my personality into it.”

Eri Jung of the hairstyling category, who previously won gold at the 2025 Skills BC provincial competitions last year, will be one to watch for at the 2026 Skills Canada National Competitions next month.

“During these competitions, you get to learn many other skills you may not necessarily learn in regular classes,” says Jung, who has her eyes set on a national gold this time after winning silver nationally in last year’s competition in Regina.
