Introduction to Cultural Safety and Indigenous Holistic Health Equity (CSIH 1010)
This introductory course is designed in response to the TRC Calls to Action in Health with an introduction to Indigenous perspectives, knowledge, and practices within the context of health care education. Through online modules, students will explore the historical context and contemporary impact of colonization on Indigenous peoples of Canada, with a focus on the local host nations of Vancouver: xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Students will begin to develop a personal action plan to integrate Cultural Safety and Humility practices into their role as a health care worker.
