Dr Peter Nunoda Memorial Scholarship

Dr. Peter Nunoda, former VCC

As VCC’s President and CEO from 2014 to 2019, Dr. Peter Nunoda spearheaded several initiatives to enhance the college’s educational programs and improve student outcomes. Some of Dr. Nunoda’s points of pride while at VCC were the college’s 50th Anniversary campaign, “We Built this City,” and the implementation of the Gladue writing program.

Dr. Nunoda also played a significant role in moving VCC’s campus plan forward. During the Government of BC’s announcement, on July 20th, 2023, to invest in The Centre for Clean Energy and Automotive Innovation, VCC President Ajay Patel acknowledged Peter’s impact:

“I also want to take a moment to acknowledge my predecessor Dr. Peter Nunoda, the late Peter Nunoda. Unfortunately, we lost Peter earlier this year. It was Peter who started us on our campus planning . And I know that Peter is watching us, and I know that he would be really proud of what we’ve accomplished here today. So, I want to take a moment to thank Peter for starting us on this amazing journey.”

With news of his passing this spring, Dr. Nunoda’s family have set-up this tribute page to raise funds for The Peter Nunoda Memorial Scholarship. The funds raised will be used as a scholarship for an Indigenous learner in the Culinary Arts program. Through this scholarship, Dr. Nunoda’s legacy will live on, creating a lasting impact on students for many years to come.
