The Assessment Centre is offering limited in-person computer-based Math and Keyboarding assessments.

COVID-19 questionnaire

Every student with a scheduled in-person appointment is required to complete a pre-health screening questionnaire on the day of their appointment. The link to the questionnaire will be provided to you in your confirmation appointment email.  

English

At this time, we are not offering the ABE, ELA or the CLBPT. However, we have found a temporary online English test option to meet your English Language requirement for most VCC programs. Please see below for programs that are not accepting Duolingo.  

Duolingo English Test - Please read all the information carefully

LPN and HCA programs
VCC will not accept the Duolingo English test. Please see an Academic Advisor for other options.

Pharmacy program
For all Pharmacy applicants, VCC will not accept the Duolingo English test. The ABE assessment is not being offered at this time; therefore, as an alternative, the ACADEMIC IELTS is being accepted. We are not accepting GENERAL IELTS. The Duolingo English test is an online English proficiency test that can be taken online, on-demand, in under an hour for $49 US. The test is taken using a computer with a camera (NOT a tablet, iPad, or phone) and includes a proficiency score, video interview, and writing sample. Certified results will be sent to you by Duolingo within 48 hours of the test session. Duolingo results are valid for two years. 

How to take the Duolingo English test:

  1. You must have a VCC ID#
  2. When registering for the Duolingo test, enter the same email you provided to VCC
  3. You must choose "Vancouver Community College - Domestic Admission" as the receiving institution for verification
  4. When you receive your results from Duolingo, email the Assessment Centre, with the following information: (without this information, we cannot enter your results in the student database)
    • Full Legal Name (Last name and First name)
    • VCC ID#
    • Date of Birth (eg. 05 January 1997)
    • The date you wrote the Duolingo English test
    • The program you are applying for
    • Your email address (please use the same email for both Duolingo and VCC)
  5. Visit englishtest.duolingo.com/applicants to register

There is a practice test on their site that we suggest you use to prepare for the English test.


DUOLINGO English Test results are valid for two calendar years.   Please check with DUOLINGO for the re write policy.
